After decades spent watching his father and grandfather run successful McDonald’s locations and being a part of a growing family business, Founder and CEO Jonathan Ellis is ready to give back by passing along his expertise and building a family business that will serve others similarly to how the Ellis family business served him. He knows what worked, and what didn’t and has cross-applied his learnings into wellness, solving cost and labor challenges with a well engineered business model that doesn’t have its franchisees coming home and smelling of grease.

From McDonalds Franchisee to Honest Lash Franchsior
A labor of love from the very beginning, Honest Lash was born out of a COVID-triggered pivot. As a third-generation McDonald’s franchisee who later owned both a Signarama business and 15 Sylvan Learning locations, Jonathan Ellis had experienced many phases and models of franchised businesses and hand-selected the best aspects of each for his new brand. The scariest thing for a franchise owner is the unknown, and Jonathan understands the bottom. Because Jonathan has been through multiple unknowns in his businesses (like McDonald’s in 2008 and Sylvan Learning during COVID-19), he has engineered the life and business lessons he’s learned into the heart of the Honest Lash business model to offer more protection to his franchise partners.

With three existing corporate territories and three franchise agreements signed within the first 90 days of offering franchises, it’s clear that Honest Lash is bringing an in-demand business model to both franchisees and lash customers. Honest Lash currently has openings planned for El Paso, Houston and San Antonio.
Honest Lash has mapped out 170 territories with a real estate tool that highlights the ideal markets for growth throughout Texas. The team is actively looking to award additional franchises in other in-demand markets across Texas through the end of the year, aiming to sign agreements for 10 total units by 2024.
